How We Source Parts

Honestly, it's part detective work, part networking. We've got relationships with:

  • NOS (New Old Stock) dealers - These folks have been hoarding parts since the 70s. Pricey but sometimes that's what you need for a numbers-matching restoration.
  • Salvage yards - We know which ones actually have vintage stuff and which ones crushed everything pre-1990. Saves you a lot of wasted trips.
  • Private collections - Some folks have garages full of parts they'll never use. We know who to call when we need something obscure.
  • Reproduction manufacturers - For stuff that's just gone, quality repros are your only option. We know which brands are worth buying and which ones are garbage.

Can't promise we'll find everything, but we've got about an 85% success rate on parts requests. That's pretty solid considering some of these cars haven't been in production for 50+ years.

Sourcing FAQs

Depends on what it is, honestly. Common stuff like brake parts or engine gaskets? Usually within a week. Something weird like a taillight lens for a '58 Edsel? Could be a month or more. We'll give you a realistic timeline once we know what we're dealing with.

If we find the part and you buy it through us, nope - our markup covers the time. If you want us to spend weeks tracking down something super rare and then decide not to buy it, yeah we might charge a search fee. We'll be upfront about it though.

Most suppliers let us return stuff within 30 days if it's unused. We verify fitment before ordering when possible, but sometimes with vintage parts it's a bit of trial and error. If we screwed up the application, we'll eat the return shipping. If you gave us wrong info, that's on you unfortunately.

NOS is great if you're going for a concours restoration and money's no object. But a lot of times, a good quality reproduction will work just as well for half the price. Sometimes better, since that 50-year-old NOS rubber gasket might've dry-rotted sitting on a shelf. We'll give you options and let you decide.

Yep, we've imported stuff from the UK, Australia, and across Europe. Costs more and takes longer obviously, but sometimes that's where the part is. We handle all the customs paperwork which is a headache you don't want to deal with yourself.
